(PDF) Conference Proceeding: TREATMENT OF A COPPER
This study has shown ammonia pretreatment and ammonia assisted cyanide leaching of a copper-rich gold ore. Ammonia pretreatment prior to cyanide leaching, was found to be effective, with a significant improvement in the extraction of gold from 12.3% to 98.2%, apparently due to the removal of easily soluble copper present in the ore.
Aqueous ammonia as a leaching abundant source of sulfide copper in the earth’s crust; agent is fairly non-corrosive and leaching reactions occur and 2) it is one of the most refractory sulfide copper in relatively mild conditions [9]. The best known minerals [1].
However, the use of ammonia as the additive and high reagent consumption have severely limited the development and commercial application of the traditional copper-ammonia-thiosulfate leaching

Leaching of Gold with Copper-citrate-thiosulfate Solutions
In ammonia leaching of oxidized copper ores, as the dissolution reactions happen at mildly acidic or basic conditions, some metal impurities, which pass into the solution during the dissolution of ore, precipitate because of the high pH of the solution. Besides, ammonia forms stable complexes with copper ions, and this can lead to an increase

Optimal leaching was achieved and further refined for the ASR in a two-step indirect leaching system with biogenic ammonia. Copper leaching was the result of local corrosion and differences in leaching against the synthetic (NH 4) 2 CO 3 control could be accounted for by pH shifts from microbial metabolism, subsequently altering free NH 3
Ammonia and ammonium salts have been recognized as effective leaching agents in hydrometallurgical processes due to low toxicity and cost, easy recovery and high selective recovery of metals. New research findings on considerable advantages of leaching by these agents and elimination of problems associated with acid leaching have resulted in a new approach in the world to this method.

(PDF) Industrial Application of Ammonia Assisted Cyanide
When ammonia was introduced into the industrial agitation leach plant, there was no improvement in the extraction of gold, in contrast to the bottle roll tests, but the extraction of copper was halved, thus leading to significant reductions in the amount of cyanide consumed in the full-scale leaching system.

Treatment of copper rich gold ore by cyanide leaching. 01/02/2015 The treatment of a copper sulphide bearing gold ore by direct cyanide leaching, ammonia pretreatment and ammoniacal cyanide leaching was investigated. Dissolution behaviour of gold and copper in these leaching systems
From the above results, the optimum conditions for thiosulfate leaching of gold with copper-ammonia catalysis were obtained as follows: Cu 2+ 0.025 mol/L, NH 3 1.5 mol/L, S 2 O 3 2− 0.2 mol/L and time 8 h. Under the conditions, 88.3% of gold leaching percentage was obtained, which was close to that (i.e. 90.3%) of cyanide leaching.

Kinetics of copper dissolution
Jun 24, 2004 In this study, the leaching kinetics of malachite [CuCO3 Cu(OH)2], an oxidized copper ore, was investigated in water saturated with ammonia gas. In the experiments, the ammonia concentration of the solution, the particle size of the ore, the temperature, the stirring speed, and the solid-to-liquid ratio were chosen as parameters. It was determined that the leaching rate of malachite
